don't take pancakes for granted 🥞 (Apr. 7, 2025)

Soo much happened this week but at the same time...so little happened. But CONFERENCE was amazing!! I love General Conference here on the mission. My comp made pancakes and smoothies for conference!! Honestly highlight of the mission.   I got a new comp this week. Her name is Hermana Parke...Hermana Parkisita. She's the best! She has helped me so much to learn what it means to find joy in the work. This week our goal was to just find people that we can teach in order to get a solid rebaño. So if any of you have some really good tips on how to find people pleaseee let us know :)  On Wednesday we got seriously lost in the middle of a rainstorm. Could not find our friends house for literally an hour. Nothing beats walking around in the rain and mud all afternoon. We had a new convert with us too, and he helped us out so much so we bought him churros. Shoutout to Otoniel 🫡  Conference was amazing per usual!! Felt like all the talks were so personal and so needed. The Lo...

Not sure how to start because sooo much happened this week and i don't want to bore you all... Sooo HiGhLiGhTs: -food poisoning💀 so much fun! highly recommend throwing up in the middle of the street  -miracle baptism of Hector!! -seeing monkeys  -baptism of Yerci (the cutest ever)  -getting locked out of our house and jumping the wall to get back in  -2 baptisms falling..wouldnt say that's a highlight..but it's all in the Lord's hands  -TRANSFERS  My trainer, Hermana Beckstead, is leaving me to go to Iquitos to be an STL!! Woohoo for her but sad for me. I have to lead the area with my new comp. Sightly terrified cause i don't know what anyone is saying when they talk to me. We will survive. My weekly hamburgers-that definitely aren't hamburger-are keeping me going😭 maybe that's why I got food poisoning. That's not stopping me.  The baptisms this week were amazing! Hector got baptized and in a year from now him and his family can be sealed as a family...

"what a blessing it is to have country music" (Mar. 24, 2025)

Another great week! Soo many miracles and soo many amazing moments. Prayer really works guys.  Some highlights:  -first intercambio (exchange) -found a super rich fam that seems super interested! they give us lots of rico fruit  -had my first breakup with an amigo..but got ice cream after so it was okay  -had a ton of friends at church on sunday  -taught someone with a pet monkey  -some old guy let us listen to some Don Williams and asked us if we knew what country music was  Our friends are amazing! We finally found our little amigo, Dayiro. He literally lives all over Peru, but he goes to church in our ward. He is soo excited to get baptized, but I don't know if he's as excited as me and my comp are. It's gonna be amazing! This week there has been a lot of flooding everywhere. A small town in our area is completely flooded and there are 900 families living on the bank of the river in tents because their houses are under water. We are helping them wit...

Not really sure how to describe this week but it was GREAT!! I realized how grateful we need to be for what we have. God is so great and has given us so much! Never take it for granted.  This week went by so so fast and every single day just runs together. But I had my first Multi-Zone Conference this week. It was soo much fun! Everything we have been doing this month is related to basketball because-March Madness-of course. So every single lesson we teach has to be LECCIÓN JORDAN!! Who knew that watching basketball highlight videos all of Zone Conference could help you become a better missionary 🤷🏼‍♀️ i'm not complaining.  We put two friends on date this week and I love them both so much! I didn't realize how connected I could get to these people so fast. They're truly my best friends and all I want for them is to find the joy that Jesus Christ brings.  I've really been studying "trust" this week and while i was reading in PME, in The Plan of Salvation, I r...

Happy March Madness everyone! Surprise surprise, that's not a thing here in the jungle. We have our own version though. We have a goal this month, as a mission, to get 304 baptisms!!! March Madness goes crazy here! 🫡  This week was great! My brain finally realized where I was when I was eating coconuts from a tree sitting in a house on the bank of the Amazon River... so we are slowly getting used to everything. I can understand people a little bit better every day. Un poco un poco!  I had my first baptism yesterday!! Margarita and Mathias. It was such an amazing experience and I'm so excited for them! I didn't start teaching them, so I don't know them too well but they still have a special place in my heart 💓  It is so incredibly humid and rainy here!! One night this week we were running to someone's house cause we were late for a cita. Oh. My. Gosh. I'm never living somewhere humid. We got to his house and I thought I was melting. He was very concerned for us...

Smile and Nod 🙂‍↕️ (Feb. 24, 2025)

What. The. Heck. Is. My. Life.  That has been my go-to phrase for these past 5 days here in Peru. I am in the city Pucallpa. It's the best!! Love love love it here. Literally in the straight jungle though. Quote from a member, "Make sure to not get in the canoes because the anacondas like to climb into those." 🫠 Love my life!  I got here on Thursday and we went right to work. I got to my first lesson and immediately got humbled so bad cause I couldn't understand a single word anyone was saying. My job was to hold the pictures, smile, and nod. That's what I've been doing for the past few days. Smiling and nodding. But i have learned that if they don't smile, you stop smiling too. I can share my testimony and understand bits and pieces of gospel topics ONLY. But, that's okay, we're thriving.  My trainer is the besttt! Shoutout to Hermana Beckstead. We are pretty much the exact same person and she has helped me so so much. There's so much i need ...

Holaa! Last 5 days at the MTC! It's the moment I've been so excited for for forever...but I don't know how to speak spanish so i think i changed my mind. Not actually, but it's starting to feel real now.  I can't give an update on how my week is going cause i genuinely can't remember what happened each day. Every day just blends together. But this week was amazing. We started "Hablar Su Idioma" or "Speak Your Language." This is when we can only speak Spanish. Everywhere. Oh my gosh sometimes i feel like im going to die :) It's been so good though. One day at a time!  Hermana Lambson and I chopped our hair!!! Ahh. It was so fun and I love it! Very impulsive but..why not?  Yesterday we had an amazing devotional yet again. President Johnson talked about how Jesus minds the gap. We always have this idea of who we should be. This perfect image of ourselves and every time we fall short of this "perfect" image, we think we aren't d...

"I'm not here for ladies, I'm here for Jesus" (Feb. 5, 2025)

Hola hola! Only 2 weeks left till i get to Peru! Ahhh. So so excited to go but not so excited to leave my companion, my district, and my teachers. They have helped me so much..so special shoutout to all of them.  It has been sooo warm this week! Hermana Lambson and I have set a goal to run every morning...don't ask us why cause we are questioning it ourselves. But Heavenly Father is giving us warm weather to make it a little easier cause He's cool like that. We also were called to be Sister Training Leaders this week. Definitely getting me out of my comfort zone, but the sisters in my zone make it easy.  Elder Quentin L. Cook came and spoke to us last night. He was amazing! He spoke about the "4 Loves of Being a Missionary"  1. Love your Companion 2. Love the People you Serve  3. Love your Mission President and his wife 4. Love Jesus Christ  His talk was so powerful. Even though I don't know the language, I can still love with all my heart, might, mind, and stre...

PROVO (Jan. 22, 2025)

Life is crazy. Being a missionary is crazy!! I love it so much though. Meeting my district was soon much fun. Definitely divine intervention! Love them all so so much. We decided that we are going to all just leave the MTC and go to the same mission by ourselves. But...God called us so I guess we have to go where He asked.  We are all so excited to learn Spanish! We start immersion TOMORROW... All of us think that we are ready but we might get humbled real quick. Hermana Lambson and I are rule breakers🤷🏼‍♀️ you know us. We accidentally left MTC grounds after we worked out...we opened the back doors of the gym and were trapped in a construction site. There was this huge cement wall that we thought we could climb over, so we started climbing, ran through a few buildings, and finally made it back to civilization. We will try our best to NOT do that again.  God is so so good! I have loved being able to grow closer to my Savior each day. He has taught me so much. How to love peop...

Toilet Miracles (Jan. 29, 2025)

Image
Hiii! Crazy crazy week here at the MTC. There were so many trials, miracles, hard days, amazing days, memories, and spiritual moments. Overall...I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY!!  We started Spanish immersion on Thursday. Oh my gosh. The gift of tongues is so real. I have learned more Spanish in these past few days than I did in 2 years of high school. Somehow I can understand Spanish and have been able to learn so much so fast. However, everything has opposition. It has been really hard. There are so many things that I will want to say but can't. By the end of the day, all of us are completely dead. But we know that God is with us.  Sooo this toilet miracle. I've genuinely never experienced anything like this. GOD IS SO REAL. Last Tuesday.. I lost my ring in the toilet😐 it was my favorite ring from Mexico. I was so so sad. So I shamefully flushed it down the toilet. This Tuesday we were setting up the gym for our devotional. 15 of us sisters were setting up chairs together when a ...

HOME MTC!! (Jan. 15, 2025)

Hola!! That’s about the extent of my Spanish right now, but we’re making progress.  Just wanted to give an update on how this week has gone! Home MTC has been incredible. I’m pretty sure I have the best district and companion, so I feel sorry for everyone else. I have learned so much this week. Here’s some of my favorite things that I took away from this week: - God loves EFFORT  - Progress and not perfection!  - Missionary work is the best…but also very scary - Your weaknesses help you become strong  - Sitting at a computer all day is something that I will never be doing again  - GOD LOVES YOU So excited for this new and exciting part of my life! Go read 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (shoutout to Connor) Your weaknesses may seem like a burden, and something that makes you “less than.” Your weaknesses are what make you turn to the Lord. Be thankful for the moments that you get to ask for help from the Lord. He will always answer your prayers and make you strong! 🩷 love...
